MAP Carbon Z36 Seatbox
Starting with the top-of-the-range gear, the stunning Z36 Carbon is the world’s first carbon-framed seatbox. Designed in the UK by MAP and developed in conjunction with one of the world’s leading carbon bicycle frame manufacturers, the Z36 Carbon is the flagship seatbox in MAP’s range.
With good looks that belie its performance it offers a super-light frame that provides amazing strength and seamless construction. The Z36 Carbon is also the first MAP seatbox to carry the 36mm round leg as standard. These have long been regarded as the pinnacle of seatbox leg systems, offering the ultimate in stability, and are fully compatible with MAP’s QRS range of accessories.
The sensuously curving carbon frame benefits from having no ugly weld seams or joins and the profile of the seatbox means that you are always nice and low to the ground, bringing improved stability and comfort.
As you would expect from a carbon-fibre product, the seatbox is considerably lighter than the original Z30 Elite, without sacrificing any strength. Benefiting from an extensive range of drawers and trays, plus the benefit of the huge range of QRS add on accessories, MAP has set a new benchmark for seatbox design.
Modern carbon technology at this level does not come cheap, though, and the MAP Z36 Carbon is an expensive date, with the RRP set at a whopping £1,250!
MAP White Z36 Seatbox
If you can’t stretch to the carbon edition but want the benefits of the 36mm legs, then the Z36 White could be a more affordable option – and let’s be honest, it’s not lacking in the looks department either!
Based upon the same Z-shaped design as MAP’s current Z30 Elite, this curvy aluminium-framed model features larger, 36mm diameter legs plus an all-new, limited edition white colour scheme.
The new Z36 White Edition features the same technical design and innovation as the Z30, but with the 36mm legs that are considered a must-have for many anglers. Designed, developed and tested in the UK, it features a stunning white frame that’s been beautifully crafted, and machined aluminium blocks make it extremely lightweight, but still strong.
The 36mm legs offer incredible stability, and the stacking system allows deep or shallow tray units to be stored underneath the box in any order without the need of a runner on the bottom tray. Each leg is fully extending and features threaded inserts for accessory attachments.
The Z36 White will have an SRP of £749 – expect to see both models in retailers any time soon.
