Dougie had been organising matches for four decades and will be sorely missed.
Hugely respected, 'one off' match organiser passes away.
It’s with deep sadness that Pole Fishing reports the death of much loved angler Dougie Maddock.
As match secretary of Winsford and District Anglers Association, Dougie was the backbone of the massive river Weaver match scene and had been organising matches for the anglers of Winsford for the past 40years, with, as his club put it ‘honesty, humor and dignity.’
Top match angler Andy May was just six-years-old when he first met Dougie, describing him as a ‘real one off’.
“He was an awesome guy who I’ve known since I first started going to matches on the Weaver decades ago,” Said Andy. “It’s a hugely sad loss for everyone who knew him. He was one of the nicest and most genuine blokes you could ever hope to meet.”
Our sympathies are with Dougie’s family and friends.
