John Ashwell smashed the 2015 Easter festival at Staffordshire’s Heronbrook Fishery, with a superb four-point performance last weekend.
The Maver Bag’em rod got off to a great start on the first day, finishing second in his ten-peg section on Bridge Pool from Peg 31 with 55lb 14oz.
On the second day, John drew fancied peg two on Meadow Pool, and made no mistakes catching a mix of F1s and carp to 8lb to finish with 115lb 12oz for a section win.
The final day saw John on peg one on Canal Pool. With the fancied ‘stick-up’ swims in his section, he was certainly up against it. Fishing a carefully considered match using pellets, he took 101lb 3oz of mainly F1s, giving him another section win to take festival victory and a prize of £1200!
Second place went to Paul Gibson, who got off to a great start with two section wins on the first two days. Unfortunately a poor draw on the third day saw him finish with 7 points, but still enough to secure the £1000 second place prize!
Third place went to Danny Hallam, who had the same points as Paul, but lost out on count back of section wins. Danny picked-up a welcome £800 for third place.
