One hundred and seven anglers lined the banks of Skylark, Hawk, Osprey and Falcon lakes for the first ever Mega Match This qualifier held at Boston's Westwood Lakes in Lincolnshire. Conditions on the day were not ideal on account of very strong winds hampering some anglers depending on where they had drawn. That said, the weights recorded from around the complex were still very good with very little daylight between the top five.
Booking his place in the 2015 Mega Match This Grand Final was Miracle Baits-backed Lee Cowlan. Lee drew peg 45 on Falcon and started his match fishing across to the island offering pellet to depth before switching to his margins late on, again with pellet, to catch mainly carp and F1's to weigh in 135-03-00.
Finishing in second place was Adam Swain (Sensas A4), who drew peg 8 on Osprey. The local rod gave a superb display of shallow fishing before his swim dried up towards the end of the match. Adam offered 126-10-00 to the scales to book his place in the Maver British Pole Championship final at Larford Lakes - the youngest angler ever to do so at just seventeen (17) years of age. A fantastic achievement!
MAP's James Dent (Sensas / VW) finished in third place from peg 24 on Falcon. Like Adam, James caught the majority of his fish shallow to record a final weight of 124-07-00 to finish in the mainframe for a second consecutive Match This qualifier.
James Howarth (Tri-cast Highfield) finished in fourth place, also booking his place in the 2015 Maver British Pole Championship final, recording an overall lake win from peg 2 on Hawk. Fishing both maggot and pellet on the pole at 11m, James found mainly carp and F1's to offer 123-04-00 to the scales.
Fifth place on the day was taken by Steve Winters (Drennan / Bait-Tech) from peg 24 on Osprey. Steve opted to fish shallow with pellet to end proceedings with 121-00-00 and a place in the August British Pole Championship final.
