£1,000 pay day for river champion.
An exciting new river festival on Leicestershire’s River Soar has been announced. The venue – which is home to the UK’s biggest natural Winter League – is famed for its prolific stocks of roach, chub, dace, bream and perch.
The event is scheduled to take place on the 6th, 7th and 8th of October.
In an usual twist to most river festivals, the event will see every day take part on a ‘virgin’ stretch of river, so no one section will be used more than once over the course of the three days.
Sections to be fished include 1860, The Greens, The Deeps, The Top Ponds,Zouch, Kegworth, Proctors, Brinks, Little Meadow, Abbey, Gorse Meadow and the Arches.
Entry will cost £125 per person, and a deposit of £50 will secure a place. Besides the £1,000 to the winner, the top six will all collect generous prizes, and there will also be daily and section money.
