Matt Godfrey has won the inaugural Monkhall Pole Fishing Festival, with a perfect two point score. Second place was Carl Jones, who followed up a second in section on the first day, with a match win on day two, bagging a cracking 118-15-0 of F1s and carp from Swallow Pool. Darren Frost took third spot, also with three points.
Matt commented: “I am over the moon to have won what has been a great festival at a brilliant venue. Short pole fishing with pellets has been my key tactic on both days, as the wind has limited how far out I could fish. There has been no shortage of bites to be had though, and I am sure if weather conditions were more favourable, then the fishing would have been even better!
A big thank you to Ben and Cliff Stamford for running what was an awesome festival. A little birdy tells me they have another similar event in the pipeline - if they have then it is sure to be another cracker!”
